How to collect a useful sample

  1. Pick a recurring design and record its actual stitch count.
  2. Time several machine cycles from Start to completed embroidery. Keep garment loading/hooping out of this timer.
  3. Separately time hooping/loading across multiple pieces.
  4. Repeat the process for caps if they matter to your shop.
  5. Use a conservative margin so purchasing decisions are not built on your fastest run.

Calibration questions

What should I time?

Time machine-run cycles separately from hooping/loading. Machine-run time should include the normal trims and color changes that occur during the timed design, but exclude garment handling.

Why use minutes per 1,000 stitches instead of rated SPM?

It converts a real observed design run into the same planning input used across StitchCapacity, without assuming the brochure maximum is sustained in production.

Should caps be calibrated separately?

Yes. Cap-frame speed, registration behavior and handling can differ materially from flats, so keep separate measured assumptions when caps are a meaningful share of work.
